We are a mother daughter team. Daughter, Sara is a stay at home mom of two young children. Mother, Cathy is also a house wife. This gives us plenty of time to properly care for our animals. Please note we have 8 bloodhounds listed. Bradley lives with his owner off the premises. Four are housed with Sara and three with Cathy. They have the care they need and the one on one attention they deserve. We love and care for our dogs the way everyone should. We have an extreme love for animals in general but love the bloodhounds. We have only carefully selected spoiled rotten babies, Our dogs are well taken care of and loved like no others!! We are active in rescue programs, always doing, and have done all we can personally do to help animals of all kinds. With this love for animals my mother Cathy fell in love with the Saint Bernard breed. She for over 25 years mastered the breed, bringing several to their championships and raising beautiful healthy pups who have themselves become stars in the ring. She is well known and an extremely reputable breeder in the Saint Bernard world. She is no longer raising saints, but with that experience we are going on to focus on only one breed, the bloodhound. With her experience and my love for the bloodhounds we purchased our bloodhounds. All of which we chose carefully. Taking the time to research their pedigrees and finding the bloodhounds we feel meet the true standards. We plan to soon bring our babies to show as well. . Hopefully this year we can set aside some time for some shows.Ours will hit the show ring when we feel they have reached their full Potential .Please feel free to contact us with any of your questions. We would love to help you find that beautiful bloodhound puppy you have always wanted. We aren't going to tell you that you can't show them or raise some puppies but ask that you love them unconditionally and respect our questions and concerns in finding the best home we can. We will not sell to pet mills or pet stores! We do our best to ensure all pups will be taken care of and loved as well as their parents are! Our puppies are raised with lots of love, other animals and small children. They are ready for a family, make them part of your family!
About Bloodhounds:
Bloodhounds (also known as the St. Hubert hound) is a large breed of dog that was bred specifically to track human beings by scent. It is famed for its ability to follow scents hours or even days old over great distances. Its extraordinarily keen nose is combined with a strong and tenacious tracking instinct, producing the ideal scenthound or blood tracking dog, and it is used by police and law enforcement the world over to track escaped prisoners, missing persons, and even missing animals.
Bloodhounds are a gentle dog which is nonetheless tireless in following a scent. Because of its strong tracking instinct, it can be willful and somewhat difficult to obedience train. Bloodhounds have an affectionate, gentle, and even-tempered nature, so they make excellent family pets. However, like any large breed, they require supervision when around small children because they can knock them over with their bulk. Bloodhounds are also characterized by a stubborn "what's-in-it-for-me?" attitude, a likely cause (in conjunction with their size and propensity for excessive drooling) for the high rate, in comparison with other breeds, of bloodhounds given up for adoption once full-grown.
Bloodhounds weigh from 80 to 140 lb. They stand 23 to 27 inches high at the withers. According to the AKC standard of the breed, larger dogs are to be preferred by conformation judges. The acceptable colors for bloodhounds are black and tan, liver and tan, or red. In the Middle Ages, they also occurred in other solid colors, including white (on chest, toes and tail) – colors that appear in other breeds descended from the early bloodhounds. Bloodhounds possess an unusually large skeletal structure with most of their weight concentrated in their bones, which are very thick for their length. The coat is typical for a scenthound: hard and composed of fur alone, with no admixture of hair.
